Jack Smith, FAIA, has had a distinguished career spanning seven decades. He is both an architectural practitioner and an educator. He holds a doctorate in architecture with an underpinning in philosophy. He has received numerous honors and awards in both architecture and academia. Recently retired from a Teaching Professorship at Montana State University School of Architecture, he has returned to a full-time practice based in Sun Valley, Idaho.
On Nov. 15, 2024, Jack received the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows Western Mountain Region (AIA COF WMR) Silver Medal. This award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to the institute, the profession, the community, and the citizens of the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows Western Mountain Region and who has transcended local boundaries in making these contributions. This is the highest honor the eight-state AIA COF WMR can bestow on an architect.
